Personal Development

Written by Eileen Hopkins

My road to counselling and psychotherapy has been interesting. Having worked in a caring profession, nursing for over 30 years, I was always at my happiest when interacting with my patients & I have always been a people person.

Personal Growth

Personal growth involves the enhancement of all aspects of the person, the feelings the person has about himself or herself, and their effectiveness in living. It includes the development of positive life skills and the development of a realistic and healthy self-esteem.I work with people who want to develop positive life skills and to develop a realistic and healthy self-esteem.I support them to make decisions or create the changes they want to live a more fulfilled life.

Confidence Building

Confidence is a tool you can use in your everyday life to do all kinds of things, not least to stop second-guessing yourself, manage your fears and become able to do more of the things that really matter to you. But not many people realize that their self-confidence works just like a muscle – it grows in response to the level of performance required of it. Either you use it, or you lose it. I can help you find and exercise your self-confidence muscle so that it becomes a strong and integral part of who you are. Forever, and no matter what life throws at you.

Assertiveness

Do you long to become more confident and comfortable with personal assertiveness? How do you cope with negativity in other people? and how do you react when someone else is being overbearing towards you?Clear and effective communication is the key to being assertive. When we’re assertive we can ask for what we want or need and explain what is bothering us. The key is doing this in a fair and firm manner while still having empathy for others. Once you identify what you need, you can stand up for yourself and be proactive in changing the stressful situation.I will support you as you explore new ways to approach difficult topics and topics you’re passionate about with constructive approaches. This includes how to say “no” without being portrayed as “offensive,” use body language effectively, express your views and disagreements positively and more.

Work/Life Balance

Are you ready to learn to set limits and boundaries, re-evaluate your goals and prioritise what’s most important for you? Are you ready to be inspired to make positive, permanent changes for ‘you’?Being able to juggle a career, a family and a social life in this day & age can be a challenge. As your coach I empower you to focus your time and attention so that you can enjoy all aspects of your life without feeling pulled in all directions.

Finding Purpose

Feeling a lack of purpose in life can make even the smallest challenges feel insurmountable. It can lead to depression, anxiety and other mood problems. Coaching can help you to get your life back on track by finding purpose and in turn feeling fulfilled with your life. As your coach, I am trained to help you figure out what it is you want out of life and to help you set clear actionable goals to get you to where you want to be.

Effective Communication

Communication is a two-way process, so improving communication involves both how we send and receive messages. Effective communication skills are fundamental to success in many aspects of life. The ability to communicate effectively is a key interpersonal skill and learning how to improve our communication has many benefits.

Self-esteem

Self-esteem is defined as confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; having self-respect. People who struggle with low self-esteem can only see themselves in a negative light, focusing on their flaws and faults. This can result from a variety of issues such as family problems, discrimination, or a loss of control over some aspect of life.Coaching can help you adjust a distorted view of the self by teaching the strategies needed to overcome these feelings and learn to face challenges confidently. I can help you learn to love yourself and be proud of all the great aspects about you. I want you to believe in yourself, know what you are capable of and that you deserve wonderful things in life.

Self-care

The easiest definition of self-care is a life-giving act that restores, sustains or improves your health. By health, we’re not just talking about the physical body, but our emotional, energetic and mental health as well. One of the reasons why it can be hard to define self-care is that everyone’s needs, preferences and goals are different, so what one person finds nourishing differs from another, and our own needs also change over time.Because the most effective kind of self-care is an individual approach, I work with clients as they choose a bespoke approach based on the needs of their head, heart and body.
